FOXBOROUGH, MASS. – Daniel Jones got hit quite a bit in his short time on the field Thursday night.

The most significant part of him taking those pops was that he got up from them apparently unscathed.

It’s been so long since Jones was last hit with any kind of force that it can be difficult to remember that he was only cleared for contact this spring after missing the final six games of last season with a serious neck injury. Thursday’s preseason game was Jones’ first live action since he suffered that injury.

“It felt good,” Jones said. “It was just like it used to be.”

Maybe a little too much. Jones was sacked once and hit by blitzers at least three other times. He also carried the ball on a run on the opening drive, picking up 6 yards.

“I really didn’t think a lot about the neck or anything like that,” Jones said. “I felt good. It was just football.”
