Giants prepping for life without Osi?

While Osi Umenyiora is losing sleep over his situation with the Giants, some of the other Giants defenders are preparing for life without Osi … just in case. They're mostly trying to remain calm about the situation.

“If he’s not around it won’t change anything,” linebacker Michael Boley said at the ESPN the Mag pre-draft party on Wednesday night. “We have a good group of guys. Obviously having Osi there is great, but him not being there, it’s not going to change. It’s like the times that he’s been hurt, nothing changed.”

Jason Pierre-Paul, who spoke with reporters at the same event, said that he supports Umenyiora’s decision to rework his contract or try to facilitate a trade. But, he said, life would go on without Umenyiora. He compared the defensive line to a chain and said if Umenyiora left they would link up again and move forward. He did, however, say that the group of him, Justin Tuck and Umenyiora was “unstoppable.”

Earlier in the day on Wednesday, Umenyiora said that the Giants’ best chance to get value for him would be this weekend during the draft. He even enticed a few would-be buyers by making it clear that he’d be willing to play out the final year of his contract for any team that trades for him.
