There's likely to be a change at the top of the running back depth chart with the anticipated return of Rashad Jennings this week. But the Giants also made a change at the bottom of the running back pecking order, placing Michael Cox on injured reserve with a fractured left leg and signing Orleans Darkwa off the Dolphins' practice squad.
Darkwa played in four games for the Dolphins this season, mostly on special teams. But he did have three receptions for 31 yards at Buffalo on Sept. 14 and, less impressively, four rushing attempts for 2 yards at Oakland on Sept. 28. He was signed as a rookie free agent by the Dolphins out of Tulane in the spring and made the 53-man roster but was waived and signed to their practice squad on Oct. 6.
At Tulane, Darkwa ran for 2,953 yards and 39 touchdowns and added 77 receptions for 595 yards.
The Giants also made a switch of defensive backs on their practice squad, signing cornerback Josh Victorian and terminating the contract of safety Kyle Sebetic.
