Johnson: Steve who?

Steve Smith of the Panthers remembers who put the hit on him to end his season. It was Giants safety Michael Johnson and it came in the end zone at Giants Stadium, breaking the receiver's arm. Now Smith apparently wants some revenge, telling Sports Illustrated that he'll be "going after" Johnson when the teams face each other in the opener on Sept. 12.

Johnson deflected the threat by comparing Smith with the Steve Smith who catches passes for the Giants. And not favorably.

"Who are you talking about, the Steve Smith from Carolina? So you're not talking about Pro Bowl Steve Smith?" Johnson said.

Johnson said he didn't think his hit on Smith was dirty or illegal, even though he was fined for it by the league. He also said he's not paying attention to any chirping the Panthers receiver is doing.

"The only Steve Smith I'm worried about is the one on my team," he said. "I don't even know the other guy."
