QUOTABLE
"You can look at a stat sheet all you want, but I promise you if Excel was going to win football games Bill Gates would be killing it right now." – Joe Judge saying he does not rely solely on analytics but on the flow of the game to make decisions.
INTANGIBLES
A month ago Billy Price was the new guy, acquired in a trade from the Bengals. Now when he looks around the offensive line room he’s one of the longest-serving players there. "It’s ever-evolving," said Price, the starting center. "How quickly my role has changed." On Sunday he’ll start his third game at center for the Giants and likely have a third different left guard beside him; Nick Gates suffered a fractured leg in Week 2 and Ben Bredeson has a hand injury last week that will probably keep him out for this game. "It’s pretty tough," he said of the challenge of shuffling personnel so regularly and creating chemistry on the fly. But he also expressed confidence. "I got this," he said. "We’re going to be ok. Football is still football."
FANTASY PLAY
Kenny Golladay, Giants WR: Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton will miss Sunday’s game with injuries, leaving the Giants with Golladay and rookie Kadarius Toney at receiver. Golladay has yet to surpass four catches or 64 yards in a game this season and he’ll draw extra attention as Daniel Jones’ main target, but an uptick in volume still isn’t out of the question. -- NICK KLOPSIS
NUMBER, PLEASE
1: Seasons in franchise history, 1969, in which the Giants did not throw an interception in their first four games. If Daniel Jones (and whoever else might throw a pass) can get through Sunday without a pick – he hasn’t thrown any in his past 113 pass attempts and just one in his last 291 – the 2021 Giants will join them. Not that it’s helped them much. The 1969 team started 3-1 but the current Giants are 0-3.
