This may be the last normal week for the Giants for a while.

After this game against the Bears they have to get ready for the Patriots on Wednesday, a week from today. Then they open the regular season on Sept. 5, two weeks from today. Then they have a long stretch of time off before facing the Bucs in Week 2 on a traditional Sunday afternoon, but after that they have a short week to get ready for the Panthers in Carolina on Thursday Sept. 20.

For a team and coach that is so used to routine, it will be a challenging month.

“Unfortunately we’ve done this a few times,” Coughlin said of preparing to play two games in the span of six days. “We take them one day at a time, but we do realize that probably over the course of the next five weeks, some unusual things will take place from a scheduling standpoint.”
