The Giants are taking a flyer on former first-round pick Corey Coleman.

The wide receiver was signed to the team’s practice squad on Thursday after spending time with three other teams — two of them for less than a week — this season. In August, the Browns traded Coleman to the Bills for a seventh-round pick (a move that he requested, as was shown on HBO’s “Hard Knocks”). He was released by Buffalo six days later. In early September, he was signed by the Patriots and was on their active roster for six days but was inactive for their Week 2 game against the Jaguars. The Patriots released him when they acquired Josh Gordon but brought him back to their practice squad. He was released from there on Sept. 29.

Coleman was selected 15th overall by the Browns in 2016 out of Baylor. In 19 games there, he had 56 catches for 718 yards and five touchdowns.

The Giants may need him on their active roster soon. They placed their No. 3 receiver, Cody Latimer, on injured reserve with a hamstring injury this week and Russell Shepard was limited in practice on Thursday while dealing with a neck injury. Rookie Jawill Davis and recently signed Bennie Fowler are the only two other receivers on the 53-man roster.

To make room for Coleman, the Giants released Kalif Raymond from the practice squad.

Solder-ing on

Nate Solder learned a lot about playing football in his seven seasons with the Patriots. During that time, though, they never got around to the lesson on how to deal with being 1-5. They never had to. With New England, the worst start to a season he had through six games was 3-3, and that happened just once, in 2012. Now that he is a Giant, the offensive lineman is adjusting to losing.

“You can’t do it as one player, you have to do it as a team,” the starting left tackle said. “I think we have those elements. It’s a continuing process and we have to keep working at it, we have to keep pushing. We can’t back down. We have to put our foot on the gas.”

Giant steps

For the first time this season, the Giants had all 53 players on their active roster practicing. Three of them — Solder (neck), LB Olivier Vernon (ribs) and WR Russell Shepard (neck) — were limited . . . TEs Evan Engram and Rhett Ellison, who missed the game against the Eagles, participated fully.
