Giants vs. Steelers: The Bottom Five

14. ELI MANNING
Giants, QB
It’s hard to call 3,948 passing yards and 26 TDs a down year, but for Manning it was — he had thrown for more than 4,000 yards the past three seasons. Manning has been a week-to-week quarterback his entire career. He’ll have his outstanding 510 yard, 3 TD games like he did against Tampa Bay in Week 2, but he’ll also have his 125 yard, 0 TD duds like he did against Pittsburgh, the worst passing defense in the league last year. Expect more of the same in 2013. | Credit: AP
You know football is back when you get smacked upside the head by the Bottom Five!
Yes, our weekly feature that looks at the five least important aspects of every Giants game returns for another season and we begin with Saturday’s preseason opener against the Steelers.
In case you don’t know what the Bottom Five is, allow me to explain. There are plenty of articles and websites that can tell you what the five most important things to look for in any game are. Most of those lists are very similar, and you, as an educated follower of the Giants, could probably name them yourself at this point. But they stop after just five (or sometimes 10) items. Here, we go deeper. All the way to the bottom of the list, in fact.
So let’s see what this week’s Bottom Five looks like, shall we?
5. After scoring the first touchdown of the preseason, Eli Manning takes out his cellphone and begins to awkwardly rub it against the football in a somewhat disturbing sexual context.
4. Jerry Reese and Tom Coughlin get into a huge argument over the “Countdown to the Super Bowl” calendar because they cannot decide whether or not to counts Feb. 2 – the day of the game – in the countdown. “If it’s ‘days until,’ then you can’t count that as a day,” Coughlin screams.
3. Curtis Painter.
2. Antrel Rolle and Ben Roethlisberger have a long pregame conversation in which they reminisce about their days playing at Miami and wonder why they don’t remember each other as college teammates.
1. Plaxico Burress.
