It may have cost him the rest of his preseason and 2-3 weeks on the sideline, but Jim Sorgi's willingness to take what the Jets' defense threw at him has at least earned him points with the offensive coordinator.

"He’s a competitive guy, a tough guy," Kevin Gilbride said. "He hung in there and took some hellacious hits, which is not a good thing to see overall, but in terms of your evaluation of him, that’s certainly an important component of being a successful quarterback. He was willing to stand in and do whatever it took to make a throw. That was great to see."

Gilbride will see no more of Sorgi during the preseason. Di dhe see enough in just the one game?

"No," Gilbride said quickly. "You’d like to get more, certainly."
