Herzlich starts, Prince plays

The already inspiring Mark Herzlich story takes another big leap tonight.
The undrafted rookie linebacker who overcame cancer while at Boston College and made the Giants’ team will be the starting middle linebacker against the Eagles. He’s leapfrogged Greg Jones on the depth chart. Technically the guy replacing Michael Boley (who is now out) is Jacquian Williams. We’ll see who actually starts, since it will depend on which personnel the Eagles start the game with, but I can tell you (now) that Herzlich spent a lot of time in practice this week as the linebacker in the nickel and base looks. He and Mathias Kiwanuka were pretty much tied together at the hip all week.
In other rookie news: Prince Amukamara is also active. He’ll be on the field for the first time as a pro tonight after missing the first nine games and all of preseason with a broken bone in his foot.
The inactives for the Giants; Ahmad Bradshaw, Michael Boley, Jerrel Jernigan, Henry Hynoski, Mitch Petrus, Dwayne Hendricks and James Brewer.
As you know, the Eagles already ruled Michael Vick and Jeremy Maclin out. Vince Young will start at quarterback, Riley Cooper will start at wide receiver.
