Don't be jumping on Brandon Jacobs' bandwagon.

The Giants' running back made it clear Thursday that only true Big Blue Believers matter to him after the team's rousing win over the Eagles on Sunday.

"The people outside that want to say they're fans and don't believe in us, I couldn't care less if they ever believed in us,'' Jacobs said. "They don't mean anything to us if they didn't believe in us. They can go back and finish living their miserable lives as they've been living and hoping that we lose and whatever."

There were plenty of folks who thought the Giants would be sunk by the Eagles. They weren't. And now they are 2-1 and looking to improve against the Cardinals.

Could there be a letdown?

"In this locker room, guys are ready to play," Jacobs said. "I look in a lot of guys' eyes and see that they're ready to go."

Osi practices; Nicks sits

DE Osi Umenyiora (knee) practiced for the second consecutive day and, barring a setback, seems poised to make his regular-season debut Sunday. WR Hakeem Nicks (knee) did not practice, but said he is confident he will be able to perform against the Cardinals. "I think he'll make it to the game," coach Tom Coughlin said.

Giant steps

Long snapper Zak DeOssie (back) did not practice, so TE Travis Beckum and LB Mark Herzlich filled in during the workout. The Giants expect DeOssie to play Sunday . . . Coughlin confirmed that WR Brandon Stokley has a quadriceps injury, and he did not practice . . . Cardinals RB Beanie Wells (hamstring) was limited.
