Tuck says he will not become a Cowboy

The Giants defensive end was pegged by DeMarcus Ware as protesting a bit too much about his passionate dislike of the Cowboys. Ware even suggested that Tuck was jealous and that his rantings stem from a deep desire to join Jerry Jones, Inc.

"Hmm," Tuck said. "I don't wear Wranglers, I don't wear cowboy hats or boots or those [belt buckles]. I don't wear none of that. And I don't need a star on my helmet to tell me that I'm pretty good at what I do."

Tuck went as far as to state that he never will be a Cowboy. "I plan on retiring a Giant," he said.

A week ago, Perry Fewell torched his own defense, criticizing his players' will, effort and passion against the Saints and coming very close to calling some of them quitters. On Thursday the defensive coordinator said he doesn't regret anything he said.

"I just spoke from the heart," Fewell said. "I didn't try to demean the players or demean anything about what we do or how we do it. I just tried to tell the truth. I probably shouldn't have said some things I said. But I just spoke from the heart."

Did it have the desired effect? "I thought we played with more energy, we played with greater purpose last week," Fewell said. "We want the W. We didn't finish it. If we had gotten the W and finished it, obviously we would have been pleased."
