Kayvon Thibodeaux’s season is over.

The Giants placed the outside linebacker on injured reserve Saturday because of a shoulder injury.

Interim coach Mike Kafka said as recently as this week that Thibodeaux — who hasn’t played since Week 10 at Chicago — was expected to return this season. That plan changed just ahead of the Giants’ home game against the Vikings on Sunday.

In his fourth season, Thibodeaux had five tackles for loss and 2 1⁄2 sacks in 10 games, all career lows.

Thibodeaux’s fifth-year option was exercised this past spring, but the former first-round pick has struggled since being drafted fifth overall in 2022. He had 11.5 sacks in his second season but only 12 in his three other seasons combined. He missed five games last season because of a wrist injury.

Rookie Abdul Carter started twice in Thibodeaux’s absence and likely will continue to do so in the final three games.
