Brandon Jacobs remembers the opening night game against the Cowboys very well.

“I watched the first game at my house with my wife and I and I was so angry I almost broke the TV,” he said of the six-turnover exhibition the Giants had in a 36-31 loss to the Cowboys. “It was a tough night. My in-laws were there, we all watched the game together. I didn’t take that night (well), it didn’t go over very well with me.

“I wasn’t on the team but I was a fan, just as I’m a fan now and am always going to be a fan.”

He said he had the remote in his hand, but he didn’t throw it.

“The TV, it wasn’t a cheap one,” he said, “but I was really angry.”

There was only one thing that could have saved that night for him, in fact. And that happened shortly after the game when he got a call from the Giants to come in for a workout that Tuesday. That was because Andre Brown had been put on injured reserve earlier in the week, David Wilson fumbled twice and Da’Rel Scott had a key screen pass bounce off his shoulder in the fourth quarter.

“That made my night go by a little bit better,” he said of the invite.

It did lead to some more stress, though.

“I was like ‘What are they going to make us do?’” Jacobs said of prepping for a free agency workout. “I was in shape, I was ready for whatever, but I’m like ‘What are they gonna have me do?’ I didn’t want to do anything wrong because I knew it was my only opportunity to be here. I didn’t want to screw nothing up.”
