Lumpkin: We can handle it!

David Wilson, Kregg Lumpkin, Ryan Torain. That’s not the backfield the Giants imagined for themselves to come down the stretch with. A rookie and two guys who hadn’t played football this season until they were signed about two weeks ago.
Can they handle it?
“I feel like we can,” Lumpkin said. “We’re putting in a lot of work, a lot of hours, just trying to make sure we have all the right steps down, the right protection calls and adjustments, knowing who to block and what routes to runs. Every day we’re just going to continue to study harder and get better.”
Lumpkin has played in the last two games for the Giants, mostly as a third-down back who did some pass blocking and ran a few routes. Torain has yet to dress for a game. And Wilson, of course, is coming off a 100-yard game with two rushing touchdowns but no one really knows if he’ll be able to carry a full load.
“Everyday we’re learning in the meeting room,” Lumpkin said. “We continue to push each other, help each other out. Ahmad is in there. Henry is in there. Coach (Jerald Ingram) is in there. David is in there. Andre Brown is in there. We’re all learning from each other. Just trying to help this team get to the championship.”
