We were surprised when we came in this morning and saw Mario Manningham on the pre-practice injury report. So was Tom Coughlin.

“He really appeared to be fine Monday when we saw him,” Coughlin said of the receiver. “We didn’t expect there to be any slowdown in his performance today in practice. There was. Hopefully we can do the test again and see how that comes out. We’re a little bit surprised that there’s an issue here.”

Manningham suffered his concussion sometime during the hard-hitting Titans game, but he didn’t start feeling symptoms until Sunday night. He alerted the training staff and was with the team on Monday. This morning he underwent a concussion test – “That was the first I heard of it,” Coughlin said -- and had to be held out of practice.

Victor Cruz will move up the ladder from No. 4 receiver to No. 3. Coughlin said Ramses Barden will also see extra reps in practice. “They’ll all get plenty of work.”

As for other injuries: Neither Keith Bulluck (toe) nor Rocky Bernard (back) were practicing today although both are expected back tomorrow. Shaun O’Hara is still wearing a protective boot when he walks around. Coughlin said he had hoped that the injury would sideline him for two weeks, but now he’s unsure how long O’Hara will be out.

And Coughlin said he was looking forward to seeing Brian Jackson play cornerback this week. Jackson was elevated from the practice squad to replace safety Michael Johnson, placed on IR with a herniated disc in his back. D.J. Johnson will move from cornerback to safety.

Greg Logan was out at practice and said that Darius Reynaud was not on the field. He was not on the pre-practice injury report and Coughlin was asked about him this morning in terms of his production. We'll get to the bottom of this one.
