It's getting to a point at which the Giants no longer are wondering when they'll get Osi Umenyiora back, but if he'll be back. Ever.

A source told Newsday that it is "doubtful" the defensive end with the severely sprained ankle will play Saturday against the Jets. Umenyiora has missed three games with the injury, which he suffered Nov. 28 against the Saints.

"I'm very concerned," coach Tom Coughlin said of Umenyiora's recovery, which was expected to be two to three weeks. "We were hoping we'd have him back. We're going to take it day to day, but we'd have to have some really major improvement here to be able to say that he could go."

Umenyiora may have played his last game for the Giants. He voiced his displeasure over his contract loudly during the offseason and the preseason. If the Giants are eliminated Saturday -- a loss to the Jets and a Cowboys win would do that -- there seems little chance Umenyiora would play in the meaningless finale against Dallas on Jan. 1. He has one year remaining on his current contract.
