INDIANAPOLIS -- Rob Gronkowski stuck to the script once again Wednesday.

"I am just taking it day by day," the Patriots' tight end said when asked if he'll play Sunday. "Obviously, I want to be out there. I am anxious to be out there. I want to help the team out as much as possible. It's the Super Bowl, obviously I want to be out there.

"I am trying everything I can do to be out there."

Gronkowski, who didn't practice, said the Patriots are looking into a shoe that could help alleviate some of the pressure on his ankle. "I think we're going over that Wednesday night," he said, "so we will see with the training staff."

Gronkowski said he hasn't been able to do much running, but Tom Coughlin expects him to play. "I really do think he'll play," Coughlin said. "It sounds like he's making great progress."

Light practices

OT Matt Light (flu) was a full participant in the Patriots' practice. OT Sebastian Vollmer (flu/back/foot) was one of 10 players who were limited.
