I went over the injury situation in a previous post, so let’s just jump right into the practice report:

The team first held 1-on-1 drills with receivers going against defensive backs. Victor Cruz dropped a pass … Travis Beckum caught one while covered by Antrel Rolle … Hixon caught a deep ball down the right sideline over Ross … New safety Derrick Martin broke up a pass for Ballard … Cruz caught a pass but was out of bounds on a fade down the left sideline over Michael Coe … Rolle picked off a pass from Carr to Jernigan.

Here are some highlights from the first series of 11-on-11 snaps:

Corey Webster wound up with a pick after the ball bounced off of Manningham and then off of Paysinger … Tyler Sash had an interception off Carr with no receiver in the immediate vicinity.

In 9-on-7 drills, Sintim was playing weakside linebacker with the first group. Goff and Kiwanuka were on the line with him and Tollefson was at DE for Tuck. The only real pop of the drill came when Hynoski crashed hard into Herzlich.

Here are some highlights from the second series of 11-on-11 snaps:

Manning hit Ballard but Umenyiora appeared to be in position to make a sack … Nicks dropped a pass from Manning … Andre Brown had a run to the right but had to slow down because he was running behind Mitch Petrus like a stagecoach driver … Greg Jones, who continues to impress, was in position to gobble up a run by Da’Rel Scott … Herzlich was in coverage on a pass from Perrilloux to Beckum … Perrilloux completed a strong pass to Jernigan over Jacquian Williams.

Today was a punting day and Dodge looked very good, booming kicks to Hixon, Jernigan and Witherspoon. Then the team lined up for some field goals with new kicker Rhys Lloyd. He connected on all six of his kicks, but a few were kind of shaky and to the left. One was a line drive. He certainly has a strong leg, though.

In 7-on-7s, Terrell Thomas had another interception slip through his hands, this one on a pass from Manning to Bradshaw. He had the same thing happen yesterday and it nearly killed safety coach Dave Merritt. Just wait a few dot-dot-dots and there’s more … Michael Clayton dropped a pass from Carr … Henry Hynoski caught a pass wide open and turned it upfield … Charles Scott dropped a pass from Carr … A pass from Carr banged off Ballard, who had not turned to look for the ball … Thomas dropped ANOTHER interception, this time on a pass from Perrilloux for Cruz .

Here are some highlights from the third series of 11-on-11 snaps:

Joe Burnett intercepted a pass that was tipped in the air by Cruz … Kevin Gilbride looked like he finally lost patience with Travis Beckum. After it looked like he missed an assignment, Gilbride told the tight end “Just stay out” and waved both hands at him disgustedly. Beckum did not return until much later in practice, when prodded by Mike Pope in the 2-minute drill at the end. Even then, Gilbride was staring down Beckum, making sure he ran the right routes and blocks. He did not look happy, even when Beckum caught a couple of passes on the drive.

The team ran some goal line plays from the 3. Jacobs ran the first one and slipped into the end zone behind a thunderous block from Hynsoki on Herzlich … Linval Joseph batted down a pass from David Carr … Canty, Dillard and Tollefson combined to stuff a run by Da’Rel Scott.
