Report: Izzo new assistant special teams coach
Larry Izzo will be named the Giants new assistant special teams coach.
Izzo will take over the post vacated by Thomas McGaughey's departure to LSU, according to the Star-Ledger.
A 14-year special teams standout who also played for the Dolphins and Patriots, Izzo appeared in 12 games with the Jets in 2009 before suffering a season-ending neck injury. The three-time Pro Bowler began his career in Miami, spending five seasons with the Dolphins prior to joining the Patriots in 2001.
Izzo's hiring is expected to be made official once the lockout ends.
