Eli Manning and Steve Smith will connect again, only it will happen before the game begins.

The Eagles named their three captains for this game, and one of them will be very familiar to Giants fans.

Well, all three of them will be. Asante Samuel has been playing against the Giants for several years now, not notoriously in Super Bowl XLII when he made one of the biggest plays in Giants history and let a fourth-quarter interception sail through his hands. And Jason Avant, another captain, is the player who laid out Zak DeOssie on the DeSean Jackson punt return last year.

But the one that will make Giants stomachs turn over is Steve Smith standing at midfield before kickoff wearing an Eagles uniform. Yes, the former Giants receiver who fled from the Giants in free agency and is playing in the first three games even though the Giants (and other teams) didn't think he'd be back until this time at the earliest, will be representing the enemy.

While watching Smith and Manning shake hands before the coin toss will be interesting, just as fascinating will be the interaction between DeOssie and Avant.
