Super Bowl ring sold by LT's son

Surprised to see Lawrence Taylor's Super Bowl XXV ring up for sale at auction? So was he. The ring is being sold not by the Hall of Fame linebacker for the Giants but by his son, Lawrence Taylor Jr., to whom Taylor gave the championship memento. According to Fox Sports' Jay Glazer, who spoke with Taylor, he had no idea the ring was for sale.
"LT wasn't aware at all that his son had put it up for auction," Glazer reported on Twitter. "However, he had no problem with it [because] he feels they are now his son's property."
The company auctioning the ring, SCPAuctions.com, originally boasted that the ring would come with a signed letter of authenticity from the former Giants linebacker. It changed its description on Friday afternoon with an addendum:
"This ring will be accompanied by two letters of provenance, one signed by Lawrence Taylor acknowledging he gave the ring as a gift to his son Lawrence Taylor Jr. and a second signed by Lawrence Taylor Jr. stating that the ring is in fact the authentic 1991 New York Giants Super Bowl XXV ring he received from his father."
Bidding for the ring ends Saturday evening.
