Dec. 4, 2011

Packers 38, Giants 35

MetLife Stadium

Eli Manning's touchdown pass to Hakeem Nicks and a two-point conversion run by D.J. Ware with 58 seconds left ties the score at 35, but Aaron Rodgers completed four passes of 18 yards or more to set up Mason Crosby's 31-yard, winning field goal as time expired. It handed the Giants a fourth straight loss and extend the Packers' winning streak to 18.

NFC Championship Game

Giants 23, Packers 20 (OT)

Lambeau Field

Corey Webster's interception on the second play of overtime set up Lawrence Tynes' 47-yard field goal that sent the Giants to Super Bowl XLII. Tynes had missed his previous two field-goal attempts, including one at the end of regulation. The game was played in a temperature of minus-1 and a wind chill of minus-23.

Jan. 6, 2002

Packers 34, Giants 25

Giants Stadium

A game that is more memorable for Michael Strahan breaking the single-season sack record and the controversy over whether Brett Favre flopped for him to reach it. Favre rolled right and slid as Strahan plopped on him to reach 22 1/2 sacks for the season late in the fourth quarter.

NFL Championship Game

Packers 37, Giants 0

City Stadium

The Giants' Kyle Rote dropped two sure touchdown passes in the first half and the Packers were able to battle through the Green Bay cold. Bart Starr threw three touchdown passes and Paul Hornung, on leave from Army duties, scored 19 points.

NFL Championship Game

Packers 14, Giants 7

Polo Grounds

Arnie Herber, the former Packers quarterback who was called out of retirement to play for the Giants, had the team driving toward the tying points but was intercepted at the Green Bay 20 late in the fourth quarter. Ted Fritsch scored two second-quarter touchdowns for the Packers.

NFL Championship Game

Giants 23, Packers 17

Polo Grounds

Ed Danowski hit Hank Soar for the winning TD in the third quarter and Ward Cuff broke up a pass for Arnie Herber in the end zone on the final play to give the Giants their third title. The teams have met in five NFL championship games and this was the Giants' only win.
