Meanwhile …

A couple of Giants defenders seem to be closer to becoming ex-Giants defenders. Linebacker Jonathan Goff reportedly visited with the Browns while a source tells Newsday that defensive lineman Dave Tollefson will visit with the Seahawks Thursday and Friday and has received interest from the Packers, Raiders and Buccaneers.

According to the source, the Giants also have a standing deal on the table for Tollefson if he wants to return to the team or if he is unable to find a more lucrative – or longer-termed – deal elsewhere.

For Tollefson, any of those last three options would be a reunion of sorts. He was originally drafted by the Packers in 2006 (and spent that season on their practice squad), grew up in Northern California rooting for the Raiders (and was their “property” when he was allocated to play with NFL Eurpoa and began the 2007 season on their practice squad), and played for current Bucs defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan when he held that position with the Giants.

I have nothing even close to that interesting to tell you about the pursuit of Goff. He’s been rehabbing from a torn ACL he suffered in practice the week the 2011 season began and has been very quiet … even by his standards.

Goff and Tollefson are two of the 13 remaining free agents for the Giants who have not yet signed with anyone.
