July 30 has always been the day when the Giants figured to start training camp. It's 14 days before their preseason opener, so even if this had been a regular offseason, that's when they would have begun. Now, with the league on theverg of and perhaps even minutes away from finalizing a deal to end the lockout, it appears that the July 30 date will stick.

Of course, the location has changed. After a decade and a half of training camps at Albany, the Giants will hold this year's camp at the Timex Performance Center. And yes, it will be open to the public.

I'm not sure yet on how that will work. To be fair, I'm not even sure how it will work for me, so once I get that squared away I'll let you the fans know how to go about seeing your team practice in the immediate New York metro area for the first time since before Glauber was covering the team.

My understanding, though, is that once things are signed and sealed on an agreement Monday, we'll have a lot more information on timetables and training camp schedules. My guess is that there is a long line of emails queued up at the Timex Performance Center waiting for the green light to hit send.
