What are the chances Justin Tuck plays against the Rams on Monday? Flip a coin. The defensive end who has been nursing a neck injury for more than two weeks said Monday that the odds of him being ready to face the Rams are "50-50" and that the injury is not getting better.
"It had been progressing and it kind of just got stagnant," Tuck said in his weekly spot on WFAN. "As of now, it's just not getting better. It's better than it was a week ago but the last couple of days, it didn't stay on that [progression] and it just kind of got stagnant. That's where we are."
Tuck injured his neck in a preseason game against the Jets on Aug. 29 and he has not played since.
Nicks not so bad
Wide receiver Hakeem Nicks had an MRI because of a knee injury he suffered against the Redskins. The image apparently showed no structural damage and he's day-to-day.
Giant steps
Tuck said in his radio interview that fellow defensive end Osi Umenyiora (knee) was running, though he's still a long shot to play against St. Louis . . . Rams QB Sam Bradford has a bruised right index finger but no nerve damage and is expected to play against the Giants on Monday. Not so for running back Steven Jackson (quad). Rams cornerback Ron Bartell could be lost for the season with fractured bones in his neck.
