While pretty much everyone in the country is still dealing with the news from Newtown, Conn. this weekend, at least one Giants has made a personal connection to the tragedy.
Victor Cruz spoke on the phone Saturday night with the family of Jack Pinto, a 6-year-old victim of the shootings who was a huge fan of the Giants and Victor Cruz. The Giants’ receiver will wear Pinto’s name on his gloves and cleats for Sunday’s game against the Falcons. "Jack Pinto - My Hero" is written on Cruz's cleats. According to reports, Cruz came away from his conversation with the family under the impression that Pinto would be buried in … a Victor Cruz jersey.
The Giants observed a moment of silence before Saturday night’s team meeting to reflect on the victims, and there will be another moment of silence today before kickoff at the Georgia Dome. The Giants also have the letters S.H.E.S. written on their helmets – in honor of Sandy Hook Elementary School – and Tom Coughlin will have those same letters written on the baseball cap he wears on the sideline.
