Who needs first-team reps practice? Not me, says Prince

His words were convincing ... but Prince Amukamara’s delivery?
Not so much.
When asked how ready he is to play New England Sunday, the rookie cornerback said: “Um, extremely ready. I think I know the playbook well, even though I haven’t had time to rep it just with the team. But I’m very confident that I know the playbook and I can execute.”
Prince, who hasn’t played a single snap with the Giants first team defense this season, said he’s spent the bulk of his time with the scout team covering Mario Manningham, Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz. But despite his lack of practice time, he believes he's ready to be on the field.
“I think I’m over that frustration already,” he said, referring to the broken left foot he suffered on the second day of practice back in August that has kept him from playing this season. “I’ve dealt with it. I’m just really eager to get out there and see what the NFL is like.
“Ummmm. Yeah. Yeah, for sure,” said Prince, who will travel with the team for the first time this season. “But I still haven’t had any reps with the team, but just moving-wise, I feel like I’m ready to cover and I’m ready to hit.”
Of all the Sundays to “see what the NFL is like,” it had to be this one: against Tom Brady an the Patriots.
Defensive coordinator Perry Fewell said on Thursday that he didn’t have a “green light” on Prince just yet, but it appears the rookie will get his chance this Sunday at Gillette Stadium.
And he’s relishing the chance to have a “great debut” against Brady & Co.
There is, however, one Giant who thinks the training wheels may be coming off prematurely.
“He doesn’t look like he’s ready yet,” said safety Deon Grant. “But he’s looking good from the injury he had. But that broken foot is going to take a minute to recover from. He’s out there with a lot of confidence, but I don’t think he’s ready yet. I don’t think his foot is there yet.”
