Finally, some good injury news for Giants offensive linemen.

Will Beatty, who fractured a bone in his foot in the opener, had surgery, and hasn’t played since, will dress and play today against the Cowboys. This was the first week he was actually on the field during practice and not just running on the side, so it seemed as if the Giants were accelerating his progress with a goal of getting him ready for today. It worked.

Beatty will likely be the Giants’ sixth offensive lineman, lining up at tight end in a position that has been held by Adam Koets and Shawn Andrews.

It also appears that rookie Mitch Petrus will get the start at left guard in place of David Diehl, who was there in place of Rich Seubert, who had to move to center in place of Shaun O’Hara, then back to guard in place of Diehl, then back to center in place of Koets. Got it?

(Actually, the flip card that lists the depth chart is inaccurate. Imagine that! Kevin Boothe will start at left guard, but the long winding path to that conclusion stated above still stands!)

The inactives for the Giants are Steve Smith, Darius Reynaud, Madison Hedgecock, Gerris Wilkinson, O'Hara, Diehl, Alex Hall and Linval Joseph.
