PHILADELPHIA -- Michael Vick took part in the Eagles' walk-through practice Wednesday morning and was limited to throwing lightly on the sideline during the team's afternoon session.

What remains unknown is whether the Eagles quarterback, who is recovering from a concussion, will be available for Sunday's game here against the Giants.

Eagles head athletic trainer Rick Burkholder told reporters that Vick isn't suffering from "a whole lot of concussion symptoms." He explained that before Vick could be cleared to play, under the current NFL guidelines, he would undergo further testing including seeing an independent neurologist in the next day or two.

"He's right in the middle of this process, right where we expected him to be," Burkholder said. "Everything's progressing. We're not going to push him ahead of where we think the process goes. We're not going to judge it right now."

Vick, who was not made available to talk to reporters Wednesday, is listed on the injury report as not having participated in practice. During the portion of practice open to television cameras, he was seen tossing a ball with a coach while wearing a visor, instead of a helmet.

Vick threw for two touchdowns Sunday before he suffered the concussion in the third quarter of the Eagles' 35-31 loss to Atlanta as he was being sacked by safety William Moore.

While trying to elude Moore, Vick spun around and knocked helmets with Eagles right tackle Todd Herremans.

Vick was replaced by Mike Kafka for the rest of the game. Though Kafka was 7-for-9 in his NFL debut, the Eagles' defense gave up 14 points in the fourth quarter to lose the game. If Vick cannot play Sunday, the Eagles will use either Kafka or Vince Young, who has been sidelined with a hamstring injury for the first two games. Eagles coach Andy Reid indicated that it could be a last-minute decision.

"We're pretty fortunate to have three quarterbacks who can play the game," Reid said. "My message to them was, 'Get ready accordingly.' "

Giants coach Tom Coughlin told reporters that he is preparing as if the team is going to face Vick, because he believes that he will play if it is possible. And there is a big difference between playing the Eagles with Vick and playing the Eagles without him. The Eagles had an 8-2 record in games Vick started and finished last season; Philadelphia was 2-4 when Vick didn't play or left with an injury.
