With Peyton out, Eli has No. 1 streak

The streak will stay in the family.
Peyton Manning announced Wednesday he will not play for the Colts on Sunday, ending his streak of regular-season starts at 208. That's the most among active players. Second on that list and ready to ascend to the Iron Man throne? Little brother Eli Manning.
Assuming he gets through this week of practice and down to Washington unscathed -- and given the Giants' recent rash of injuries, that could be a big assumption -- Eli Manning will start his 104th consecutive regular-season game.
"You try to be out there every week and perform and be on the field with your teammates," Eli Manning said. "It's not something that I'm keeping track of."
There were several times when it appeared Eli's streak was in jeopardy. The shoulder injury in 2007 and the foot injury in 2009 were probably the closest he ever came to missing a start.
"There have been a few . . . that it's been a Friday decision or a game-time decision," he said. "I always felt that I could go out there and perform at a high level and be the best option for the team."
Tuck limited
Justin Tuck is still feeling the effects of a neck stinger and was limited in practice.
Tuck did not speak to reporters in New York but was on a conference call with Washington media. Asked about the six-game winning streak over the Redskins, he said: "Right now it feels like we have your number, just like the Eagles have ours."
Giant steps
Redskins S LaRon Landry (hamstring), who this week criticized the team's medical staff on Twitter for a setback in his injury, said he won't play Sunday . . . Former Giants WR Steve Smith (knee) reportedly was taking first-team reps with the Eagles and could be available Sunday.
