Jets fullback/tight end Josh Baker took a shot to the head during a special teams drill in Thursday’s practice but said he came away with only a stinger to his right side.
“As tired as I was, I was being lazy so I just kind of threw my head out there on a block,” Baker said. “It just kind of shot into my shoulder right when I caught the stinger it shot down my arm. I’m alright; it just caught me pretty good.”
An orange sleeve on Baker’s helmet was knocked off on the hit and he was down for a few moments, appearing woozy as he walked off the field. He was still favoring his right side following practice.
A few minutes before getting hurt, Baker found himself in a small skirmish with cornerback LeQuan Lewis. The two pushed and shoved each other at the end of a special teams drill and coaches were able to separate them before the altercation escalated.
