Bart Scott would like to see Plaxico Burress back with Jets

Plaxico Burress said the "possibilities are endless" regarding a return to the NFL. But Week 1 has come and gone and the former Jets and Giants wide receiver is still looking for a job.

If he's gotten any calls, he wouldn't divulge the details during an event in Plainview on Wednesday. Burress made it clear he wasn't "really here to talk about football." But will NFL teams want to talk about football with him?

A short walk up the stairs of a Long Island auto dealership, it was easy to find reminders of Burress' career.

At an auction table near the rear of a second-floor showroom adorned with quarter-million dollar cars, a poker table, taco station and a DJ, a signed Eli Manning jersey was being bid on.

Elsewhere there was a deluxe framed photograph displaying each Giants Super Bowl victory, a subtle reminder of where Burress has been and what his actions have forced him to leave behind.

A two-year prison sentence stemming from a gun charge wasn't enough to prevent the Jets from signing Burress before the 2011-12 season. But apparently a mediocre comeback campaign is enough to make teams wary this time around. Randy Moss, Terrell Owens and Chad Johnson all found opportunities this offseason. Burress is still waiting.

"I've been down in South Florida, hanging out, training, spending some time with the family," he said. "You know, I'm just happy to be here."

Bart Scott was also in attendance at the dealership. Scott said he wouldn't mind seeing Burress suit up for the Jets again.

"Of course," Scott said. "Plaxico's a tremendous friend of mine. I just talked to him, of course I knew he was going to be here. I think he's still got some juice left and hopefully he'll find an opportunity somewhere."

The possibilities are endless.
