Mark Sanchez took a beating in Sunday's loss to the Eagles, getting sacked four times and knocked down on four more occasions.
The third-year quarterback appeared to injure his neck when he was blasted by Eagles defensive end Jason Babin in the third quarter. Sanchez didn't miss any snaps and was replaced by backup Mark Brunell with 4:45 left in the fourth quarter because Rex Ryan believed the game was out of hand and didn't want to risk it.
Sanchez was treated on the sideline and went for additional treatment at the team's training facility Monday.
Sanchez said he didn't have to undergo any tests and added, "I feel good. I'm ready to go for tomorrow and take all the reps.''
JPP impresses Rex
Jason Pierre-Paul has become the Giants’ top pass rusher, and don’t think Ryan hasn’t noticed. The defensive end had another sack Sunday, bringing his team-leading total to 13 1/2.
“Jason Pierre-Paul is playing as good as anybody in the league,” Ryan said. “You can’t even vote him into the Pro Bowl [he’s not on the ballot], but he’s going to go there anyway and should be starting. The guy’s a tremendous player, but when you look at it from a statistical standpoint, the Giants are eighth in the league in offense and 28th in defense.
“So what would concern me the most would clearly be their offense, but it’s always a good pass-rush group with their front, the kind of pressure they can apply.’’
Extra points
RB Joe McKnight has a separated shoulder but is expected to play Saturday, according to a source . . . Ryan said not having safety Jim Leonhard, who's lost for the season with a torn right patellar tendon, wasn't a major reason the defense struggled. "To say that -- Jimmy's a great player, but he's not that good of a player,'' Ryan said. "You're not going to make up 45 points with one player."
