Bell says he's not out to prove anything to Dolphins

For Yeremiah Bell, there are no hard feelings.

The Jets safety looks back on his eight years in Miami with fond memories, but he’s quick to point out he’s happier playing under Rex Ryan.

“Ain’t no added incentive,” he told me this week about facing the Dolphins Sunday. “I don’t need to prove anything to those guys. I think they know what type of player I was. And if they wanted to keep me there then they would have.

“I’m happy to be here now, I don’t have any ill-will toward the organization or anybody there, so I just look at it as a division game, one that we need to win. And one that, hopefully, we get once we go down there.”

Bell led Miami in tackles the past four years, but the Dolphins chose to part ways with him and his $6.2 million salary this past offseason. In May, the safety signed a one-year contract with the Jets, worth $1.4 million ($1.3M of which if fully-guaranteed).

Though Bell said he won’t need extra motivation on Sunday, his secondary partner LaRon Landry believes it’ll be hard not to.

“If I was going back to Washington and playing those guys -- my intensity level is always high, but there will be a little bit more added emotion to it,” he said. “I don’t really know how he parted ways with the team. But for me, my reasoning behind going back and facing the team that I started out with, it’s going to be very intense.”
