Emerging Jets running back Bilal Powell did not practice today because of a toe that coach Rex Ryan said could be fractured.
“I think he’ll be all right, though,” Ryan said of Powell, who has also been playing through a shoulder injury.
Powell had his best game as a pro on Sunday with 78 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries in the Jets’ 17-10 victory at Jacksonville. Ryan hopes the second-year pro will again be able to team with starter Shonn Greene on Monday at Tennessee to give the Jets a formidable 1-2 punch on the ground.
“I think he’ll be OK with that,” Ryan said. “Again, I’m no trainer or doctor, but that’s what I feel like, he’ll have a chance to go. That’s what’s been explained to me.”
