Bill Cowher not a fan of Rex Ryan making himself the story

Bill Cowher was not a fan of how Bills coach Rex Ryan handled the week leading up to Thursday night's game against the Jets, in which the former Jets coach managed to make himself the story, as is his custom.
"Well, you know, personally I think the game should be played on the field," Cowher, the former Steelers coach and current CBS/NFL Network analyst, said on the field before the game.
"But that's kind of Rex being Rex. Not many other coaches I think are that way. I was never brought up that way."
On the other hand, Cowher is a big fan of Ryan's counterpart Thursday night, the Jets' Todd Bowles.
"I think Todd has done a fantastic job," he said. "I love the makeup that Woody [Johnson] has with him and the GM. I think they've nailed things from top to bottom as it's come. Everyone's talked about all the trades Rex has made, but I think the best trades in the NFL were the ones made here in getting [Ryan] Fitzpatrick and Brandon Marshall.
"I think they've had as much impact as LeSean McCoy has made in Buffalo. I think they've quietly gone about their business. I think they're a good football team. A little banged up right now, but I think Todd Bowles is a good football coach.
"He's himself, he's got an air of confidence about him and I think he'll only get better. Sometimes you grow into the position."
