The Jets might be without their "Wildcat" offense in Sunday's divisional playoff game at New England. Brad Smith suffered a groin injury in the wild-card game at Indianapolis and has yet to practice this week.

"Hopefully, I can get out [Thursday] and see how it feels," Smith said on Wednesday. "We've got to be smart with it. Muscle injuries are tricky. I'm just going to trust in the trainers, trust in God and hope for the best. But mentally, I'm preparing to play."

At the very least, Smith figures he has to practice by Friday to play, whether it's in the "Wildcat" offense or as a kickoff returner. Antonio Cromartie proved himself a more-than-capable substitute for Smith on the returns, but the Jets don't have a "Wildcat" without Smith. "We'll see," Smith said. "I'm on the trainer's schedule."
