FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — Jets defensive coordinator and former NFL linebacker Jeff Ulbrich marveled at C.J. Mosley checking out of a play call last Sunday and called it a first.

"This is like 20 years in the NFL for me, between playing and coaching. I have never been around anything like that in my life," Ulbrich said. "I’ve never seen that. It just shows you like what a special player we have in him."

Mosley saw the Titans were running something the Jets had been beaten on already in the game. He changed the play at the line of scrimmage, made sure the linebackers and defensive backs heard him and were ready. It resulted in Quinnen Williams sacking Ryan Tannehill.

"He got us all together on the same page," Ulbrich said. "Really unique, really scary, but really cool at the same time. Ultimately, the greatest defenses in this league are player driven and player run. He absolutely demonstrated that."

Robert Saleh also said he’s never had a linebacker check out of a play call.

"It’s one of those things that you can’t give that juice to everybody," Ulbrich said. "But he’s a guy that’s earned the right to do stuff like that."

Extension for DE Franklin-Myers

Defensive end John Franklin-Myers has agreed to a four-year contract extension with the Jets, a league source confirmed. The 25-year-old Franklin-Myers, in the final year of his contract, is off to a fast start this season. He is second on the Jets with three sacks.

A new standard

Mike LaFleur said the offense still has plenty of things to clean up, but he was glad the entire organization experienced some success last week.

"These guys are trying to change a standard and a culture and they’ve put in a lot of work," the Jets offensive coordinator said. "It’s all about the results and what you do on Sunday. I was just so proud of those guys."

LaFleur took blame for the offense’s struggles and execution issues the first three weeks. The Jets scored 27 points last week – seven more than the first three games combined.

Falcons' top WR out

The Falcons' No. 1 receiver Calvin Ridley (personal reasons) isn’t traveling to London for Sunday’s game. It’s the second straight week the Jets won’t face the opponent’s No. 1 receiver. The Titans were without A.J. Brown and Julio Jones.

Injury report

The Jets have ruled out tight end Tyler Kroft (back), safety Adrian Colbert (concussion) and wide receiver Jeff Smith (concussion). They are not traveling to London . . . The Jets signed safety Jarrod Wilson to their practice squad after releasing him from their active roster.
