Cam Cameron off Jets' OC list

A source told Newsday Wednesday that Cam Cameron won't be the Jets' new offensive coordinator.
The recently-fired Ravens OC interviewed earlier this week with the Jets, who are looking to replace Tony Sparano.
Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg and Stanford’s Pep Hamilton have already interviewed for the position and a source confirmed former Browns coach Pat Shurmur had been planning to interview for the OC vacancy -- though it's unclear if that interview took place.
The Jets are about to hire their third OC is as many seasons. In Sparano's first and only season as Brian Schottenheimer's replacement, the Jets' offense finished 30th overall.
However, coach Rex Ryan wouldn't say he miscalculated Sparano's effectiveness as an OC when he hired him back in January. Instead, Ryan stressed the importance of having an "attack-style" offense in 2013.
"I think back then I spoke about running the football and those types of things, I think (they) were really based on our personnel, a lot of that," the coach said in last week's season-end press conference. "Our personnel are probably going to change.
"There will be some changes, obviously, in the personnel. Just that attack (mentality) and unpredictability that we have on defense, I think (that) needs to be filtered throughout this football team because I think that’s where I’m at 100 percent now. That’s what I feel. I think before, maybe I misjudged the thing about I just want to ground-and-pound, that type of mentality. Maybe I bought into that more than maybe I should have. Maybe I needed to be more open-minded and look at things a little bit differently, but we have to have it. We have to have that kind of mentality and we have some players certainly capable of playing with that kind of mentality."
