Could Oakland be paving the way for Joey Clinkscales to come aboard?

The Raiders fired their longtime general manager Jon Kingdon, according to NFL Network. Kingdon, 58, had spent the past 33 years with the team and had a hand in the 2012 draft process. He also handled the team's colle scouting.

Clinkscales -- the Jets vice president of college scouting -- had been rumored for the Oakland gig, given his close ties with Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie.

At the conclusion of the 2012 draft, Clinkscales told reporters Saturday evening that he expects to remain with the Jets.
