Could Jets be "mystery team" for S Bell?
Agent Drew Rosenhaus told Miami radio WQAM that his client, safety Yeremiah Bell, could sign with one of four teams in the next 24 hours.
And the Jets are one of them.
“I’m on my way to a mystery team, and I don’t want to give away the negotiations.” Rosenhaus said. “They’re all great situations because they need help at the safety position. He’s certainly looking to continue as a starter, go to a good football team. Each of those scenarios is very promising for him.”
Bell visited the Jets on April 23.
The veteran safety – who led Miami in tackles for four straight years and was the longest tenured Dolphin before his release this offseason – also has visited the Eagles, and in the past week has met with the Chiefs and Titans.
The Dolphins released the Bell to avoid paying his $6.2 million salary.
Seems unlikely the Jets would pay a 34-year-old that much money, especially after drafting Josh Bush and Antonio Allen and signing both LaRon Landry and DeAngelo Smith in the offseason.
Though Jets fans are quick to point out the shortcomings of Eric Smith, the Jets currently have six safeties on the roster: Smith, Landry, Bush, Smith and Allen.
(But then again, none of us saw the Tebow trade coming....)
