FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Less than a week after squaring off against fleet-footed Michael Vick, there's at least one dimension the Jets won't have to worry about when they face Eli Manning on Saturday.
"He's not as fast as Michael Vick," Darrelle Revis said with a laugh Tuesday, "but he's a pocket passer and he's one of the best in the league. You see it on film all the time. You've seen it through the years. He can make all the throws and you've got to respect him. You've got to respect a guy like Eli Manning."
Manning has thrown for 4,362 yards, third in the league. His top receivers, Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz, have totaled 2,290 yards and 13 touchdowns on 143 receptions.
"They have an average of [16] yards per catch," the cornerback said. "So we understand they are a vertical team. They like to get the ball down the field."
Pouha: Get out Wheaties
Brandon Jacobs is having a down year statistically, averaging only 3.7 yards with a long run of 19 yards. But Sione Pouha said he might have to do a few extra things to get ready to bring down the 6-4, 264-pounder.
"You've got to make sure you eat your Wheaties that morning," the defensive tackle said. "You have to make sure you are all taped up and ready to go. He's a hard runner, he's a great runner. He can definitely break tackles -- if he doesn't break your arm in some sense or form.''
Extra points
Rex Ryan said he has an ice cream social with WR Plaxico Burress and other offensive players every Thursday. "Same group each week," he said. "I don't spend a whole lot of time on offense, as much as I'd like to. It's just an opportunity for me to visit with some of our offensive guys." . . . WR Jeremy Kerley (illness) and RB-KR Joe McKnight (shoulder) didn't practice.
