The Jets placed wide receiver Denzel Mims on the reserve/COVID-19 list after he tested positive for the virus.

The second-year receiver is vaccinated. NFL protocols state that Mims needs two negative tests at least 24 hours apart before he can return to the team. It’s possible that he could be available for Sunday’s game against the Bills.

It appears to be an isolated case, according to a league source.

The second-round pick out of Baylor has had a difficult year, starting with OTAs when he experienced a bad case of food poisoning.

Mims missed all of the offseason program and lost 20 pounds. He spent much of training camp playing catch-up as he learned the new offense. Mims is still working his way into the regular receiver rotation.

He was inactive for two games and started the last two with Corey Davis sidelined with a hip injury. Davis is expected to return this week. Overall, Mims has caught just seven passes for 129 yards.
