Mike DeVito is going to sit this one out.

The defensive tackle is inactive for today's matchup here with the Chargers at MetLife Stadium. DeVito's knee got rolled up on in practice on Thursday and he didn't practice on Friday, leading to today's questionable status.

DeVito's absence is a blow to the Jets' front line, given he's a one of their most productive, yet unheralded guys up front. Rex Ryan said on Friday that if DeVito couldn't go, he probably would give rookie Kenrick Ellis his first start because he wanted Ellis to help with the run defense.

Ropati Pitoitua and Martin Tevaseu, who was signed to the active 53-man roster yesterday, should also see time in DeVito's spot.

As for the rest of the Jets' inactives, they are: QB Kevin OConnell, WR Eron Riley, RB Bilal Powell, CB Isaiah Trufant, LB Garrett McIntyre and C Colin Baxter.

The Chargers will have All-Pro tight end active for the first  time in three games today, which is more bad news for the Jets. They haven't fared well against some of the league's top tight ends (see: Witten, Jason) and even though Gates is hampered by a nagging ankle injury, he could still turn out to be a force versus the Jets.

San Diego's inactives are: WR Bryan Walters, CB Shareece Wright, LB Darryl Gamble, OL Tyronne Green, DL Ogemdi Nwagbuo, DE Luis Castillo and LB Gerald Hayes.

Jets offensive consultant Tom Moore is also in the house, possibly to oversee -- in person -- exactly what's been up with these slow starts.

Enjoy the game and don't forget to catch me talking Jets on WNBC 4's "Mike'd Up" with host Bruce Beck tonight following the Colts-Saints primetime tilt.
