While dealing with the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy (i.e., no electricity and heat), I missed the fact that rookie linebacker Marcus Dowtin was fined $15,750 by the NFL for his roughing the passer penalty in the Jets' 30-9 loss to the Dolphins.

The fine amount is actually more than his game check.

Dowtin -- who earns the league minimum $390,000 -- was fined for hitting Miami's backup quarterback Matt Moore in the head. But according to Pro Football Talk, the fine likely will be reduced to $10,000 through an appeals process.
