The Jets filled two spots on their active roster by elevating 6-5, 285-pound defensive tackle Jarron Gilbert and 6-1, 245-pound linebacker Josh Mauga. Linebacker Kenwin Cummings, who was cut on Friday, was re-signed to the practice squad. Cornerback Will Billingsley also was added to the practice squad.

Mauga is a first-year player out of Nevada-Reno, and Gilbert is in his second year out of San Jose State. Gilbert replaces DT Howard Green, who was released on Tuesday.

It appears the bye week was just what the Jets needed. Everyone on the active roster appeared healthy and participated in the portion of practice the media was permitted to view. Maybe it was the fact Naughty By Nature's "Hip, Hip Hooray" was playing on the loudspeakers during warmups, but everyone seemed to be in a pretty good mood, too, as they returned to work.
