Kenrick Ellis was sentenced to 179 days in jail, with 89 suspended, according to Hampton Circuit Court records.
But, per Virginia law, he only will have to serve half of that (i.e., 45 days) because it's a misdemeanor charge, according to a court clerk. The clerk also confirmed Ellis will report to jail on June 15.
With the Jets heading up to Cortland on July 26, he could miss four days of training camp.
The Jets defensive lineman entered an "Alford" plea Monday morning, meaning he didn't admit guilt but still acknowledged the case against him could still be proven by the prosecution.
Court records also show he is to serve two years of unsupervised probation.
Ellis -- selected in the third round of the 2011 draft -- originally was charged with a felony malicious wounding charge, stemming from a 2010 altercation in college. He faced up to 20 years in prison if convicted. Intead, Ellis pled guilty to the misdemeanor charge of assault and battery.
According to the AP, the victim, Dennis Eley, had Ellis served with a $3 million lawsuit before court.
