Eric Decker backs up wife Jessie James Decker's use of Instagram

A day after his country/reality star wife came to his defense, Eric Decker backed her up as well.
"She's obviously unfiltered, which is comical,'' the Jets receiver said Thursday when asked about his wife, Jessie James Decker, using her Instagram page to deny claims that he signed with the Jets strictly for the money. "She wasn't obviously attacking anyone. I think it's just the overall perception of people [assuming] why we came here. If we were 9-2, 9-3, this conversation wouldn't be happening.''
Instead, the Jets are 2-10. That has led many -- including former Jet Braylon Edwards -- to question Decker's motives.
The former Bronco, who signed a five-year, $36.25-million free-agent deal, said he hopes he won't have to answer more questions about his wife's social-media game in the future. "But I do love that she speaks her mind,'' he said. "You've got to understand who else it affects. And she [does]. She has a big heart and is somewhat very protective of her husband, and that's something personally that we've discussed.
"I'd rather be talking about our game plan for the Vikings.''
His wife has since taken down the Instagram post.
The Jets placed wide receiver Greg Salas on injured reserve and signed Chris Owusu off the practice squad. Salas said he felt "a pop'' in his left hamstring as soon as he grabbed a handoff from Geno Smith on his 20-yard end-around touchdown in Monday night's loss to Miami.
A-plus . . . plus?
Rex Ryan made headlines last December when he declared the Jets' 2013 draft class -- headlined by Dee Milliner, Sheldon Richardson and Geno Smith -- "A-plus.'' And yesterday he upped that grade. "That was actually better than we thought because Brian Winters was a starting guard. Oh, and, by the way, Oday Aboushi is now starting . So A-plus-plus for that one,'' Ryan said.
As for the 2014 crop of players, he purposely played coy. "Incomplete,'' he said. "You guys get me, I get you back.''

Offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg said Smith will remain the Jets' starting quarterback "unless something crazy happens.'' . . . Jace Amaro (concussion) did not practice but has been cleared to do light exercises. Muhammad Wilkerson (turf toe) also did not practice. Jeff Cumberland and Jeremy Kerley (illnesses) were limited, as was Nick Folk (hip).
