FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- When it's safe again to dip her toe in the Twitter water, Jessie James Decker, wife of the Jets' Eric Decker, will restore her feed.

The well-known country singer took it down Thursday after lashing out at "haters" who turned an online contest run by her husband into a chance to bash the 1-7 Jets.

"First of all, she wasn't attacking Jets fans," Decker explained again Friday. "She was attacking the people that were saying negative comments. It got a lot of respect for the fact that she's going to say what a lot of people feel. At the end of the day, she's got my back. I did a nice gesture as far as reaching out to fans to give a prize away."

Decker offered an autographed prize to the die-hard Jets fans who tweeted the best answer about why they remain devoted to the team.

It produced an avalanche of criticism, but Decker said that won't discourage other free agents from joining the Jets because every media market, no matter how big or small, generates criticism.

Rex on Idzik heat

In other social media news, coach Rex Ryan responded to a new website whose aim is to force the firing of general manager John Idzik by saying: "Some of that comes with the territory . . . We've got to find ways to win and that will subside."

Ryan also was asked about a comment by running back Chris Johnson suggesting the Jets have little to be excited about.

"There's a lot to get excited about, in my opinion," Ryan said. "We've got half a season in front of us."
